Country Club Plaza Survey

The Challenge:

The nation’s first suburban shopping center, Country Club Plaza includes 27 buildings covering 12 blocks and encompassing 1.2 million square feet.

When Highwoods Properties was preparing to sell the plaza to Taubman Centers and the Macerich Co., they needed complete ALTA surveys of the property to enable the sale.

Areas of expertise:
Site survey

Solution:
SKW has a long history of completing survey work for the Plaza. Tuttle-Ayers-Woodward, predecessor firm to Shafer, Kline & Warren, Inc. (SKW) began doing land surveying for the J.C. Nichols Company in 1905 and subsequently did the surveying for every building on the Plaza.

In 1998, SKW prepared a legal description and drawings of the entire Country Club Plaza for a TIF project and prepared a survey of the Country Club Plaza which located all of the improvements and property corners. In 2000, SKW provided complete ALTA/ACSM land title surveying services for the Plaza.

Most recently, SKW resurveyed the entire Country Club Plaza to detail the property, assets and boundaries for the sale of the plaza.

Outcome:
Each time SKW was hired to survey the Plaza, the deadlines were tight and the busy shopping district needed to continue to function through summer months and holidays.

Each owner that has hired SKW to complete the survey has expressed happiness with the timeliness, lack of disruption and detail SKW has provided in their surveys.
