White Cliffs Twin Pipeline

The Challenge:

Originally placed into service in 2009, the White Cliffs Pipeline system carries crude oil from the DJ Basin to the Cushing, Oklahoma market. The pipeline owners wanted to increase the capacity of the pipeline by adding a second parallel pipeline.

Solution:

SKW provided comprehensive services for the survey and design of the 527-mile parallel, 12-inch pipeline project. Construction spanned four spreads and included 38 survey crews, four field supervisors and design staff from each of SKW’s six offices.

SKW prepared the preliminary design survey, base maps and alignment sheets, right-of-way exhibits and road crossing exhibits. In addition, SKW provided mechanical, civil, electrical and structural design for the new pump stations and metering facilities along the pipeline.

Outcome:

The original White Cliffs Pipeline had an initial design capacity of about 30,000 barrels of crude oil per day. The addition of the second pipeline has increased that capacity to 150,000 barrels per day.

Extremely satisfied with the project and quality of work, the client plans to use SKW’s performance and final products to rewrite their survey specifications and GIS deliverables for future work.
